Chi, Vitality and Balance Overview
Chi (Qi) is vitality. Vitality is the effect of chi in the body. Chi is life force energy. Chi is a form of universal energy. Nearly all matter has chi, pronounced chee. Chi aids living energy in growing, balancing and healing. Living energy is comprised of all metabolic processes in the body. Living energy requires chi in order for the body to survive. All living energy requires balance. Balance is necessary for optimum health. Chi works to balance the body electrically, emotionally, mentally and physically.
Vitality is the result of smooth-flowing chi in the body. Vitality is the goal of all health. All health and wellbeing is based on vitality in the body. The body uses the vitality in the foods eaten in order to help balance all of the systems in the body. These systems including respiratory, circulatory, digestive, cognitive, sensory, autoimmune, skeletal, muscular, hormonal, reproductive and excretory all require balance to function optimally.
Balance is
the state of equilibrium. Physical balance depends on equal forces operating
within a system to help balance a system. For example, yin energy is recognized
as having cold, contraction and downward attributes while yang energy is
recognized as having heat, expansion and upward attributes. Yin-Yang Theory
in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) helps to explain imbalance in the
body as a result of excess or deficient energy in a particular area.
